Fruit Focus: Cherries

Today's focus is on Cherries.  Cherries are our second biggest crop behind apples.  DeFisher Fruit Farm grows close to 100 acres of cherries all together, with a majority being tart cherries.  The oldest block of tree we have is over 35 years old and we have been growing cherries for ...

Hello and happy Fourth of July weekend to everyone!  (I know, its the fifth but after harvesting cherries all morning yesterday I did not have the energy to finish this.  If see pictures of the cherry harvest check out our Facebook and Twitter)

So, as the title suggests we are finally going live with sales.  Opici has begun selling our product to liquor stores bars and restaurants.  We have not heard anything from them yet because of the long weekend -- but we hope to hear good news next week.  At the same time we would appreciate it if everyone would ...

I cannot believe I have been here for over a year.  It is amazing how time flies when your day is full of doing what you love.  We are not as far as we wanted to be at this point, but we have finally launched product and will be selling to retailers starting in July.  Our distributor, The Opici Wine Group picked up fifty (50) cases from us yesterday and will begin sending them out to liquor stores bars and restaurants on the area in July.  Below is a picture of Dave and myself with the fifty cases all nice ...

To answer that we have to look at the time prior to prohibition.  In colonial and early America fruit based drinks were much more readily available than they are today.  Farmers turned most if ...

What we are Working on

In the first post I explained a little about the two of us behind apple country spirits, today I will take a little time to explain what we are working on.  Distilling is a time and labor intensive process, so you can expect to see some of these things a lot faster than others.

Our first product, which should be available in February, is a vodka made exclusively from apples.  Most vodkas today are made from grains (generally rye, wheat or corn) because they are plentiful, easy to work with and offer a high yield.  A small portion of vodkas ...
